Obituary for Wanda Renee' Jackson (Kemp)

Wanda Reneé Jackson went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 12, 2022, where she is seated with Christ in the heavenly realms (Eph. 2:6, NTL). Wanda was 57 years old.

Wanda was born August 19, 1964, in Alexandria Virginia to Audrey Ann Jones and Versteal Daniels Kemp (deceased).

Wanda was a brilliant, sarcastic, God loving woman who trusted in the power of prayer. Wanda was a family woman, a woman of love, patience, and trust. She was everyone’s favorite person to call when they needed good advice, a shoulder to cry on, an ear to listen, or (Wanda’s favorite), a partner to pray with. Four of the greatest joys of Wanda’s life was when she gave birth to each of her children. She was an incredible role model/mother and they each adored her.

Wanda found her greatest strength in the power of prayer. She was an avid prayer warrior, she knew and believed that God had the power to turn anything around. She would spend her free time researching, reading, and meditating on the word. Whenever she was met with a challenge, she would seek God first and believed in Him to carry her through it all. Wanda’s favorite scripture was the 91st Psalms.

Wanda worked for the City of Chesapeake ‘s fire department for many years where she was loved and supported by her co-workers. She was working in the department of Emergency Management as an Office Specialist. This is where she last worked until she was called home.

While Wanda will be greatly missed, her spirit lives on through her beloved friends and family.

Wanda will always be lovingly remembered by her four children, Ayshia, Indya, Joshua, and Kaila; her grandson, Malachai; her mother, Audrey A. Jones; her siblings, Donna M. Barnes and Daniel V. Kemp; a host of aunts, uncles, niece, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and the many friends she has come to know during this lifetime.

“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation.
There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.
Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him.
With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.”
- Psalm 91
