Obituary for Nateesha Denise Brown (Brown)

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28

“We Remember Nateesha in A Special Way”

On Monday, August 1, 2022, Nateesha Denise Brown, with her son, Andre’ there with her; answered God’s call, and went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was born on February 6, 1977, in Norfolk, Virginia. From an early age, (AKA) Teesha enjoyed reading, dancing, and playing board games with her family – especially her favorite aunt, Augmontine Davis (AKA) “Aunt Tina” who predeceased her in death. Later, she became a movie enthusiast, often rushing to the library to find the accompanying book to read before watching a movie. Although, Teesha was known to fall asleep as soon as she was seated in a car, she enjoyed road trips and asking, “Where are we going next?”

At the urging of her favorite cousin, Roxanne Dunigan, Teesha enrolled in Southern New Hampshire University and received her Human Resources Certification. She received a Medical Billing and Coding Certification from Centura College. Nateesha’s life and accomplishments cannot go unrecognized. She was admired by many colleagues, who she encountered during her 10-year tenure at LifeTouch National School Studio. Teesha began in the Digital Retouching Department. Leveraging her skill set, Nateesha advanced to the Lead Position of Customer Service Representative until the office closed. Teesha didn’t stop there, later; she became the very first Professional Burial Coordinator at Roosevelt Memorial Park in Chesapeake, Virginia. Nateesha served as the liaison between the Families, Funeral Homes and Cremation Institutions. She also followed in the legacy of her paternal grandmother, Mary Roberson, and her maternal great-grandmother, Dorothy Snowden, and completed her journey of becoming an Eastern Star. All while working full-time and guiding her daughter, Nakia, towards the completion of a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (2021) and her son, Andre’, through Norview Middle School.

Teesha had a personal relationship with God, and was baptized at Mount Olive Baptist Church, Norfolk, where she continued to bring her son, Andre’ to serve with Youth Ministry. Her laughter, great sense of humor, thoughtfulness and supportive nature will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of her company.

Nateesha leaves to embrace her memory; one daughter, Nakia A. Brown; one son, Andre’ J. Brown; parents, Theodore and Diane Brown Beverly; biological father, Bernardo Roberson; fiance’, James T. White; two sisters, Ebonee N. Brown (Colodius) and Engrid D. Savage (Lamont); Godmother, Pamela Sykes-Knight and a loving host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

I Have Lived (for Teesha)
One day, I decided that life was meant to be lived
I laughed, I loved, I persevered
I was the bright light in someone’s day
I shooed someone’s bad days away
I was abundantly blessed through and through
And to happiness, I did my best to remain true
I made it my business to find joy
I surely found it twice: in my girl and in my boy
Although, I got my wings early -- My wildest dreams, have been fulfilled
I laughed, I cried, found love and persevered, I gave all that I had to give, Please know ---“THAT I HAVE LIVED.” By Roxanne Dunigan
