Willie Bobby Brown’s Obituary
April 20, 1937 – October 29, 2022
Willie B. Brown (Bobby) departed this life on October 29, 2022 surrounded by loved ones at the home of his nephew and niece, Dwight and Joyce Linyear. Bobby was born on April 20, 1937 to the late Roosevelt Brown and Nettie Armstrong Brown and was a product of Norfolk Public Schools. He worked in the dry cleaning and food service business and loved to bake cakes several times a month for his Sunday dinner. Bobby was a faithful member of New Calvary Baptist Church and served on the usher board. He was a member of the NAACP and the Park Place Civic League and Neighborhood Watch Committee. Bobby was a humble and loving friend who loved God and had a servant’s heart. On holidays he would transport friends to his home and serve them delicious homemade meals. He faithfully visited family and friends who were homebound in nursing homes or hospitals. He also transported people to and from medical appointments. Whether it was a graduation, recital, wedding, or funeral, Uncle Bobby was always present at family events and was supportive of his nieces, cousins, and friends. During his illness he praised God and didn’t complain.
In addition to his parents, his brother, Roosevelt Brown Jr, sister-in-law, Doris Spencer, nephew, Robert Brown, favorite cousins Lillian and Carolyn, and his best friend, Lewis, preceded him in death. Bobby is also survived by his loving family; nieces: Delores Clemons, Joyce Linyear (Dwight), Jennetta Spencer, Shelia Johnson, and Shelby Jones (John), and their families; cousins Avis Long (Curtis), JoeAnn Robinson, William (Frank) Armstrong, Iris Murphy, Joyce, their families, 2 godchildren, and a host of other relatives, special neighbors and friends.
