Obituary for Jack Edward Goode Sr.

Jack Edward Goode Sr., 81, was born July 14, 1941 in Severn, NC to the late Deacon John Thomas Goode and Lucy Beatrice Goode. On Monday, October 31, 2022, Jack transitioned peacefully at his home. He was a charismatic, genuine, caring man and devoted father with a strong faith in God and a love of family.

Jack was educated in the Northampton County school system in Severn, NC. After graduation, he moved to Cincinnati, OH and worked as a chauffeur for Woody Sander Ford for a number of years. He continued his education with a certification in computer programming. With this credential, Jack began his career for Procter & Gamble as a computer programmer for 26 years until his retirement in 1990.

In 1990, Jack and his family relocated to Chesapeake, VA, where he joined Goode Construction, a family business, and served as head foreman. In his free time, Jack loved to be outdoors fishing, biking and gardening. He enjoyed hosting family functions to play spades and bid whist. He was an exceptional bowler who also loved to cook. And, if you knew him, you knew he took great pride in his immaculately clean vehicles. Jack was a faithful servant of Jesus Christ, loved St. Mary’s church and was a dedicated family man. From three marital unions, he was blessed with four devoted children – Cecily Goode (52), Jacquetta Goode (45), Latosha (Goode) Okam (39), and Jack Edward Goode Jr. (38).
Everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him knew how incredibly proud he was of his children and grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, John “Tommy” Goode, Dorothy (Stanford) Vinson, Junius (Judy) Goode, Mary (Alfonza) Branch, Nettie (George) Manley, Helen (Johnnie) Jordan and Wilson (Evelyn) Goode. He leaves to cherish his memories, his four children, Cecily, Jacquetta, Latosha (Kenneth) and Jack Jr.; his significant other, Barbara Brewer and seven grandchildren, Yiyara, Ahviel, Yahkin, Zahvdi, Jazae, Gianna and Jaxon. In addition, his five remaining siblings, Bertha (late Rev. Dr. Eddie Wilson, Jr.), William (late Hattie), Matthew (Martha), Katherine (William Walden), and Robert Earl (Carol) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
