Obituary for Durant Graves

Celebration of Life

On Saturday, January 7, 2023, our beloved father, Durant Graves passed away peacefully in his Norfolk, Virginia residence. Durant Graves was born in Marion, South Carolina on July 20, 1953, to the late Colee Rodgers and Alice Graves and spent most of his life in Norfolk, Virginia. Durant Graves was predeceased by his loving wife Donna (Jones) Graves.

Durant was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, friend and neighbor. Durant leaves to celebrate and cherish his memory, two daughters Crystal Jones-Graves (Taalid), Biala White and one son, Angelo White; Eight grandchildren: Christian Graves, Caleb Hinton, Courtney White, Raekwon Mitchel, Remono Newby, Jr., Cordijah White, Ra’Jon Newby and Terrion Spruill. Durant also leaves behind 11 great grandchildren.

Durant completed his education within the Norfolk Public School System. Durant was a hardworking man his entire life. After many years of service, he retired from Treat Quarters as a Tire Serviceman/Mechanic. During his spare time, he worked providing lawncare services to many customers in the area. Durant would light up any room with his genuine smile and personality. Durant was a strong provider for his family. The love and support we received will never be forgotten. Durant was strong-willed and never gave up. The courage he showed was exceptional. If he was giving you advice or cooking you a delicious meal, you would feel his love and comfort.

We thank you God for giving us a wonderful Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Uncle and Friend. You will be in our hearts always. We all love you and will cherish the memories for eternity.
