Virginia Marie Westbrook was born in Princess Anne County to the late Dilcy Colewell and the late Wilfred Tillery. She was a product of Norfolk Public Schools and then the St. Francis Catholic Boarding School for African American Indigenous Girls. Virginia graduated from St. Francis in 1960 and attended college briefly.

Virginia left college in 1962 upon meeting and marrying the late Lawrence Alphonso Westbrook, II. From this union they had three children. They were blessed with the late Annease Easely, Alma Westbrook and Lawrence Westbrook, II.

Virginia worked at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard and then the Norfolk Naval Base as a Tool Room Supervisor. She labored in this position for 42 years and retired in 2010. Virginia followed her daughter Annease to Faith Deliverance and joined in the early 1990s. She was an active member of the Parking Ministry until her health began to fail.

Virginia departed this life on January 17, 2023 in a local hospital. She leaves to mourn her passing one daughter, Alma, one son, Lawrence, III (Cassandra), five grandchildren, Kenyatta, Alicia (Donnell, II), Joshua, III (Veronica) Columbus IV (Tan), Ian; four great grandchildren, Deā€™Asia, Anthony, Donnell III, and Imani; four people she called her special children, Gwendolyn Williams, Anthony White and brothers Eric and Kenny Kelly. She also leaves to mourn a host of other relatives and friends.
