A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered.
Kenneth Earl Overton, beloved son of Miles and the late Lillian Overton of Norfolk, VA. Kenneth Overton was born June 1, 1958. In his hometown, he met his late loving wife of 20 years, Glynnis Overton.
Kenny worked for DePaul Hospital for over 10 years; meeting a host of great people and building relationships. He then transitioned to Lake Taylor Hospital for five years further building great relationships until his true calling of becoming a merchant seaman. He dedicated over five years of service as a mariner traveling the world, before retirement. Kenny’s greatest love and passion was music. Kenneth’s love for music started at an early age, following his father’s footstep of “spinning records” and “rocking the house”. Kenny was a dj for over 40 years, and although he retired as a disk jockey, he still loved his records and their sound on a record player! Long Live VA Slim.
He will be sadly missed by his father Miles and his two children: Kenneth Hoyt (daughter-in-law Keysha Hoyt) and Shakila Robinson, his grandchildren: Sian, Tanaja, Joi, Saniah, Eva, Ava, Kyngston; his siblings: Barbara (Ramsey Sr.), Myles III, Marcus, and Cynthia, nieces, nephews, and a host of family and many friends.
