Obituary for Christopher Columbus Cherry Jr.

Christopher Columbus Cherry Jr. was born to the late Christopher Columbus Cherry, Sr. and Doris Fleetwood Cherry on December 23, 1947. He departed his earthly life on Friday, May 19th seven minutes before midnight.

Christopher retired from NORSHIPCO and Painter’s Local 1160. He started his own business as a residential and commercial painter. Christopher’s life would seem too short to many, however, those who were touched by him understood that the quality of his existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. He was full of Joy, even in his sickness you would not have known the suffering his body was enduring because his spirit was always one of thankfulness. His commitment to God was unwavering and consistent. Another angel has gone home to live in eternal rest.

Christopher leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife Dr. Gwendolyn Evans Cherry and bonus daughter Raevalin Boyd (Kevin). Two loving sisters: Barbara Britt (John) of Franklin, Virginia; and Helen Edwards of Virginia Beach. His loving children: Lisa Scott, Felicia Hemphill (Otha), Dorsalene Scott, Carlethia Roundtree, Christopher Scott (Evette), Tonti Scott, LaTonia Smith, and Christopher Carrington. Sister-Niece Sandra G, Cousin-Sister Leola Brown, Brother-Friends Norman James and Robert Earl Powell; and Nephew-Friends William Beale and Steven Willis; twenty-eight grandchildren, thirty-two great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends whom he loved very much.
