My heartfelt condolences to the entire Fitts family during this difficult time. I was born in 1959 and grew up in the Roosevelt Gardens area of Norfolk. Mr. Fitts passing is the end of an ERA, a simpler, friendlier, and more innocent time. Mr. Fitts would always briefly chat with the parents and all of the kids on his route, and now the mail folks just put the mail in the box and go on their way. He made it a family atmosphere. He truly cared about the people on his route and was like an uncle to most of us kids. Just looking at the pics on the Graves site brings me on a trip down memory lane. What is especially satisfying to me is after viewing all of those pics posted, knowing he lived a fulfilled life full of love and family. How blessed we all were that he decided to share his life with all of us, no matter what the capacity. I look forward to chatting with him again in heaven (if I make it). I know he will be there.
