One of our fondest memories of E.J. will be his love of watching Wrestling. His Maternal Grandmother, Villa made sure he was not disturbed at all while watching Junk Yard Dog, Rick Flair, and so many others in the wrestling ring every Saturday morning. Whenever any of us joked him about how much he loved wrestling, his Maternal Grandmother and his Great-Grandmother would yell at us to “Leave EJ alone!” He was definitely favored by both his Grandmothers, and didn’t mind letting us know!
E.J. was raised as a young child in various neighborhoods in Staten Island, NY, then moved with his mother and sister Niketa to Hampton, Virginia at the age of 11.
After completing Middle School in Hampton VA, he graduated from Ferguson High School in Newport News, VA., and remained living in Newport News, VA. until he decided to move back to New York.
One of E.J.’s other passions that he had, was something he shared with his Dad Emmett Sr.; they mutually had a love of BMWs. E.J. could be seen on any given day driving his father around in his Dad’s classic BMW. During those drives, EJ had the opportunity to meet some of his father’s longtime friends before his Dad passed away suddenly in 2016.
Whatever the situation, he would turn to his music. E.J.’s love for Hip Hop transitioned him into a talented producer, writer, and artist. He was definitely in his element whether it was on stage, or in the studio. Some of E.J.’s best memories were of him being able to travel to various places and perform in Europe as well. He was able to make great memories for himself, as well as many others all over New York with his cousins Dean Jr. and Ian using their love of music.
